New Young Pony Club’s new video for their first track, Lost a Girl from their new album The Optimist. I like it without loving it but it’ll probably polarise their fans who might have been expecting something more like Ice Cream. Ah well. Nice video
California English Pt. 2 by Vampire Weekend (a b-side to their single Cousins) sounds more like a Discovery song than a Vampire Weekend song. I’m not sure how related it is to California English which is to appear on their second album Contra but I’m hoping the album will be more Horchata and Cousins than this sort of lark.

You can’t really beat the Shane MacGowan and Kirsty MacColl original, but Florence (of and the Machine fame) and Billy Bragg did a lovely version for BBC Radio 1 that isn’t quite perfect but is definitely worth a listen.
